    3dhs 92" Edge 540

No FFFF this year, unless a miracle happens with my schedule. I have a trip to AZ the week before and I bid off for the Auction which is the day before. Something had to give.

12S power systems ideas and options

I had a Q80 12S 89 Slick for a short time before selling the power system. I think a plane purpose built for this will be better with a battery tray and canopy with latches instead of bolts. The motor I have settled on is the A60-8S. I will try a 22x10 first I think. That motor is designed...

    Spektrum DX18

First I would call Horizon. ghoffman basically had them program his 9503 for his Ultrastick. For my Ultrasticks I used Glider mode, as all of these mixes are pre done. The only down side I have found in this mode is that I can't get a throttle to throttle mix to work. When I programmed...

    3dhs 92" Edge 540

I bought a few parts from Gyro, and purchased the rest from 3DHS. Greyhound is still out to lunch on where my wing box ended up. My build que is getting stupid long, so this one will be a March at the earliest project.

    3dhs 92" Edge 540

Here is the EME-60 page. http://www.milehighrc.com/EME60CC.html The ES pipes are nice and light. They are sensitive to header length and not as durable in a crash as a metal pipe. My 89 slick was on a DA-60 on RE2. I have since pulled that motor off, and I think will end up in my 92 when I...

Redwing Elite 50cc Slick 540 (new scheme)

It was the 15 pound AUW that attracted me to this plane. Also when I saw that there was the newer schemes that further sold me. That apple red and green scheme is just not me. I needed to find a home for my O.S. GT60. This engine was purchased to get a 3D plane that was sound compliant and...

    3dhs 92" Edge 540

I would use a tuned pipe if I were you with that elevation. I want to try a planebender smooth pipe on my 92. RE2 is the only choice I have used, but others prefer the K and S pipe. If you have not purchased a motor yet, you can get a EME-60 for the same money and it performs at least equal...

    What's on your bench?

Treat it like a Balsa plane. The internals of the fuse are not easy to fix. It was one of the quickest ARFs I ever put together though.

    74" Edge 540

Hmm, mine is no more as it met a tree. The replacement showed up, but UPS damaged it and I don't want to open it till I get return info from Noll. My 71 slick and velox had a seperately bay or place to install the rudder servo which is what I based my answer on as the edge was already setup...

Yes, the rudder bay is different from the elevator because the fuse is setup for dual elevator servos.

    What's on your bench?

Bigger flys better, and the DA-120 is unmatched in power. You will want to run either a 28x12 or 27x12TH in Mej. I run a Falcon 27x11 for throttle response. This is the only engine I can say that you don't need every ounce of power out of.

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

I should say that the twins have better torque in the lower RPM range to be more accurate, hence the spool up and ability to use a bigger prop. The single produces more power, just at higher RPM ranges. My PTE-72 will turn the Mej 26x8 and have good throttle response as I have a hat cam...

Kind of at a crossroads, need some advice/opinions/etc.

My first gasser 3 years ago was a nightmare as well. It was a EG 88" Raven on a DLE-55. Usual teething problems with a few dead sticks. Vibration kept kicking out canopy and stab bolts. It was a pain to transport in my old Ranger pickup and after a while I just left it at home a flew my 30cc...

    3DHS 70" Velox

I use those on my Velox, 71" Slick, and the 70" EF Extra you saw at the Jersey FLI. Patrick also runs a set in his AW 260 Freestyle. We have had to send 1 each back for that wonderful Hitec service. Both issues were detected on the ground and fixed for free. As you can see they have become...

    72" Extra 330SC

I am still actively shopping for them. I lent one to my friend Patrick for his 330SC he resurrected with a motor box kit and I have a new one that will either go into the 89 slick or 92 edge.

    72" Extra 330SC

Since you are a Spketrum user, it will be hard to beat the powersafe RXs they sell. The AR9110 is the cheapest. I personally scout the used sections for these as they can be had for cheaper than a AR8000 and badger switch. I personally use IBECs from tech aero in all of my gassers, and so...

    60" Laser-EXP

We had a whole discussion on this subject for the upcoming 78" MXS. The best motor I can find is the Hacker A60-8S which is in the correct weight class. There are some Q series motors, but at 3x the cost which were made for pattern flying. Chris Hinson did say that the gasser version of the...

    74" Edge 540

Picked up another silver one from the BF sale. Probably going into the storage room for the winter as I don't really have any engine for it at the moment. I have some 5565MHs for servos. I could do it up electric with my A60-6XS, but I have read a lot of people having issue balancing these...
