I just did some testing and with the spline foreward, it is not possible to get a cam over with the 1.75 or 2" position as the horn hits. I did notice that at the 2" position the turnbuckles were down to only a few threads, so I went to the 1.75" position.

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

On the 78 I am putting together now I am skipping the pants and going with bigger tires. They are high wear items on the grass fields I fly off of. That is one nice thing about Yaks and Sukhois, they don't really affect the appearance. Speaking of which, what is the deal with nobody making...

    2014 3DRCForums 3D Freestyle Competition

My dad lives out in Kansas, and when I looked into the local RC scene, 50cc was a small plane. Seeing the wind out there and wide open spaces, I see why this occurs. The thing about having a final competition the same season is that the events would have to be pretty close together as a lot...

It did develop a crack in the case, that has been warranty replaced. Just mounted the rebuilt one and will be breaking it on Saturday I hope. I am running a Xoar 25 3DA for break in. The main issue with this motor and the DA-70 is that there are no good Carbon Fiber props yet for it. The...

I thought the reduced throw would work, but do a hard maneuver with 25 mph gusting winds, and you get what happened to me.

I like the idea of getting a "step up" airframe or possibly power plant like a 60cc engine. The issue with doing a final event is that by the time you do the regionals, the people might have time constraints. What might be a good idea is to have a trailing final event. Say run the...

Actually south side, but yes the other side. The skid school people were running a driving class at our normal spot that day.

I have a video of it flying on a Mej 26x8. I think the 25B will be less load. Remember twins are good at torque, not revs. You probably get more power from the DA-60 on a pipe, but at 7k instread of 6k. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agxWNun1olg

Daren has the video of the event. I setup the elevator servos with the spline aft per the manual (my issue) I then used 2" arms and noticed on the bench that when I did a full up to full down, the momentum would swing the arm into a cam over. I backed the end points down to not even get close...

I talked to Jeff at DA about the lack of carbon props for the 70. We shall see if Falcon/Xoar or Mejzlik responds. My PTE-72 is the oiliest motor I have ever run. I just got a Vess 25B before the motor had to go in for service. Just got the motor back, but sadly the weather is turning...

Pownal VT puts on a nice event in early June and field is apparently very nice, being a shut down dog track. We used to have a huckfest type event in Gardner MA, call Snapasaurus, but they lost their shirt on the money side last time. The FLIs are a very specific flavor of flying event, and...

No addendum. Look at page 24 in the manual and you will see the picture that I followed. I can't wait to get V2 on the bench.

Seeing the mix of aircraft that competed in the contest I don't think making a 50cc class would do anything but take up time and resources. The 78" wing span keeps the planes in check for "affordable" rides for amateurs to compete. Although I do think the VVRC 40 twin should be allowed...

It was geometry that got me with the cam over. The servo was fine. Just don't follow the manual and I will be fine.

EF worked on the 104 Extra for over a year, so there will be a long wait for any new 100cc sized airframes. The 104 Extra rocks anyways. DA just shipped me back my motor, so hopefully mine will be back up by the end of the week.

Cool. My replacement airframe should be here on Tuesday. I think I will make some 7mm Evolution standoffs and washers to make that same gap.

Well this is the only "major" 3D event on the East Coast and there are MANY mid country events. To go to the King 50, for example is like a 12 hour drive for me to Ohio. Population density wise, NJ is pretty central actually to get a large crowd. I went to the NJ and AR FLIs, and NJ was much...

I know EFs are all made in one factory, and that there is only so much through put and to get the design right takes time. Chris just went to China to do his annual R and D time at the factory and I would guess prototypes will show up over the winter and we might see whatever new stuff there is...

Anyone out there have a 73" Pilot RC YAK54

I ran the VVRC 40 twin on mine at the end. Sold it to a friend and he put the CM6 version of the twin on it. I clocked mine at 113 mph with a Spektrum GPS telemetry module on a 20x10 Xoar. This plane would probably like a pipe, but there is no tunnel.

    60" Laser-EXP

I set up 2-3% more up than down to get the roll to be axial. This is to offset the induced drag from the down aileron.
