    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

I forgot to mention that the cowl air dam is of a new design and I posted in on Thingiverse! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4504315 Along with the DA Ignition wire holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4504273

91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread

Added some more baffling to the right cylinder to eliminate some gaps. Here are some extra pics of how I installed the temp sensors. Also the interior as it is right now. Also made a larger air dam/dump and installed it. No good pic as the glue is still drying

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Here are some final setup pics. Conversion from electric to gasoline is now complete! CG Check with one battery and no gas is the aft side of the wing tube. So even with all that work the plane is more nose heavy with the gas engine still. Time for a tune and a flight!!

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

So moving the rudder servo to the tail was waaaaayyyyy too much work. But it’s done. Basically took a 2” arm to use the next hole above 1.5”, but the 2” arm is too long so I hacked it to size. Great you say... well turned out the ball link hits the elevator. Oooooffff so I installed a custom...

It's been a month! Not fair! Where is the flying report on this machine here?

Yeah Savox servos tend to be pretty vocal. My 2274's in my timber are pretty quiet and smooth. 1270's are the social butterflies of my fleet.

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Got a lot of work done today. Baffles: Craft foam galore. Blocked the inlet ears except access to the choke rod. Filled the gaps leading up to and mostly around the cylinder. Put the muffler on with nordlock washers and copper RTV on the threads and mating surfaces. Took a...

Yup! That how all 3D planes should be setup. You have better geometry at deflection where the torque is needed more. Your extreme flight arm has four hole adjustments whereas mine only has three. So yours maybe just a tad longer than mine. Mine is measured at 1.75” in my picture.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Well you have four goals. 1: full deflection flaps 2: 3D rates 3: the ailerons and the flaps moving at the same rate of travel. 4: geometry for the best torque. You achieve 1-4 by using 1.75” servo arm on the flaps and ailerons. If you use 1.5” you loose torque, flap deflection, geometry. If...

I used NWRC 2” Servo Arms utilizing the second to last hole at 1.75” all around except the rudder which was a 3.5” offset. Geometry is terrible otherwise... especially if you want large deflection flaps while servo matching full span ailerons.

Discussion Connectors; ESC to Battery. What Are You Using And Why?

I have run into some poor Deans/T-Connectors before. If the flat to flat connection is off just a tiny bit, you are not getting a very good connection (look at the used connectors and you see uneven wear)I use to be all about the Deans connectors, I'm converting to XT60's instead for this reason...

Discussion Connectors; ESC to Battery. What Are You Using And Why?

Reviving an OLD Thread. There are a lot of Anti-Spark plugs out these days and not a whole lot of explanation of how they work. I have made a JST connector with a resistor to it, I'd plug the JST connector and then the battery connector, then unplug the JST circuit (didn't really have to it...

Alright! You can get different bearing sizes for the AirTop Tires I believe. X-Cub supplied axels are 5/16" I believe which is basically 8mm. (check post #12,18) I used a 3.5" offset arm I'm pretty sure. Look up rudder Pull-pull ackermann geometry. You want at least the pulling cable to be tight...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

That Odyssey is gorgeous BTW. I've got seven projects going at once... something I always say I'll never do - douh!! Other than working on the 75" Edge motor to engine conversion, The MMW Beaver taking a break (lost momentum very close to being covered), The ARS getting some more cowl opened...

Glad you got to get her out! Where is your CG? Still at 4” gotta bring it aft. Flies so much nicer. I have yet to hit my prop, but I also have 8.75” tires. The gear is meant more for impact protection... I tested this ha ha It’s a yellow plane... you’d have to recover the whole thing. I like...

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Been slowly tinkering away. Work, sleep, and baby are slowing productivity. Redesigned another air dump. Forgot to get a better picture. The smaller one I made a last week was painted white and put in the back. Made a place to mount the ignition module. Designed up an ignition wire...

I think the warbird guys use a 22x10 on a 55cc. You could venture into a three bladed prop.... it would loose some power, but you have excess. A 21x9 would be too small.
