Since we are just East of St. Louis the EPA has determined that my county has to use special formulations that change with the season to reduce emissions, which is why you wont find ethanol free fuel here.     The computer in your car will retard the timing if it senses spark knock which lowers performance. Higher octane can reduce spark knock which can lead to better performance.

    That is today's world unfortunately. I can remember back in the day when scientific theory was, come up with a theory, and it was only a theory until it was either proven, or dis-proven. Now, as long as your "theory" fits in nicely with the political cause of the day it is "fact".

    A friend of mine called DA about header temperatures once and was told that the header could be 750 when used with a tuned pipe depending on air flow. He said header temps with a pipe were worse than with a can. If that's the case, it's no wonder it can be tough at times to keep the Teflon tape...

    I run 91 or 93 octane premium with ethanol and Redline 40:1. The closest non ethanol fuel to me according to the websites I've found is about 100 miles. I can get race fuel or avgas, but I've never had an issue with what I'm running so since it's not broke, I won't fix it.;)

    I'm interested to see how these RCGF 120's work out. I need a 120 for a "Budget" project down the road and the price is certainly right. I've seen the smaller ones, but never in the hands of someone that has a clue about gassers. It will be interesting to see how they do when the guy tuning it...

    I have one of the cheap ones. I'm not sure what brand but it looks like the cheap one here. I only use it to check the battery I'm putting in to make sure it's a freshly charged one. If I want to know any more than that I use my PowerLab 8 charger.
