The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Just got back from the field. It was hot and humid with barely a breeze. By the time I got my airplane together I was already exhausted. I must have donated too much blood to the Mosquitoes at last nights night fly. I only worked up enough ambition to fly twice.

Heading out to the field this morning. I haven't flown a gas airplane in a month.:( It's "only" supposed to be 96 today. But at least the humidity forecast is lower than it has been. We'll see, I don't trust weather forecasting.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Just got home from the clubs night fly. I was just a spectator, but it was a lot of fun. The only problem was my Deep Woods Off, was no match for the Mosquitoes. Yikes!

I got this thing down off the wall tonight because I haven't looked at it in years. It's pretty rough, but it's still cool.

Starting Your Plane by Yourself, 60ccc or Larger

One thing to add, if you use this method sink a small brick or something between the in the ground pipes so you can find them. Around here clover will cover those thing in a day sometimes and it makes finding them a real pain.;)

I've always used a good glove, but I've been wanting to try the paint roller and see how that works out.

Back to the topic at hand. We use pieces of conduit driven into the ground that receive removable pieces of conduit padded with pool noodles. For larger airplanes like 40% you can space them farther apart and use them on the wings. Very easy to use and very secure.

I've been working on repainting the canopy for my Goblin 570. The white, gray and black was just too hard to see, so I added some color. I saved some of the original pearl white so it will still match the tail boom. This canopy was damaged in shipping so it needed some work anyway. I started by...

Accidents can happen to anyone. Even if you doing everything right, things can go horribly wrong. But, we all need to do what we can to keep ourselves and others safe. Having been a Safety Officer many years ago I know that at times it can be like herding cats. Between the people that don't...

I saw a similar motor mount bolt issue with a friend's Pilot 35% 330SC and a DA85. He noticed no looseness at all on start up. About half way through the flight everything was fine, then we started to hear an odd noise in high G maneuvers. I was standing right next to him spotting and we both...

We're having a night fly at our club next Saturday. I don't have an airplane to participate with, but I'm looking forward to checking it out. One of the guys I fly helicopters with is bringing a 450 setup for night flying. It should be pretty cool.
