The I'm going out flying thread 2016

My thumb right thumb gets the jitters right as I'm touching down landing on maidens. That's when I really appreciate expo.;) Thankfully the left one has never done that when I'm flying a helicopter, that could get ugly.:omg:

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

One of the guys at the field asked me if I still got nervous flying after all these years. I told him the day I don't get that nervous feeling I'll quit flying because it would be boring.

    Throttle weirdness

The Talon 90 is only rated for 6S packs. That could be a problem. They also seem to have more than there share of issues. There are all kinds of threads on the heli sites about them. I have a brand new one that came with a helicopter I bought that I'm kind of shy about using in a heli.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Got to the field today at 3:30 and stayed until dark. I flew my Trex 550e heli. I'm running a spare motor I had since the other one lost some magnets. The spare is way underpowered. It bogs down like an older nitro heli. I've got a replacement coming. The weather was gorgeous other than some...

Well I would have, but I had a customer coming in so he could pay me. After 36 years that's the only part of the job that I truly enjoy anymore.;)

My day did not suck....AT ALL... Infact it RULED!

Aunt Bethany: "What's that sound? Do you hear it? It's a funny squeaky sound." Uncle Lewis: "You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant.";)

It's supposed to be really nice today and since I'm caught up at work I'm taking off a few hours early this afternoon and going flying.

3D How to "build it light"

That came like that from one of the guys in our club. He's a nice dude so I'll keep his name to myself, but I can't resist posting that picture when the subject of weight comes up. It was the easiest almost 3 pounds I ever took off an airplane.;)

He started it in 1967. He designed the house for it and started construction of the layout before he and his wife were moved in. He was serious about his model railroading!

    DA-70 Alternatives

The DA 85 makes great power for an engine of it's size, but weighs almost a pound more than the DA70 and has a good deal more vibration. Also a 27" prop would cause clearance issues on most airplanes made for a 70. Overkill......fun overkill, but still overkill.

Well, there are a few things that each of us want for ourselves, but everything else will be sold in time. At least we hope.

3D How to "build it light"

I can tell you what not to do. Don't do anything like this or the airplane will get really heavy.:lol2:

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Luckily Carl, our friend that passed and left it all to us, was VERY neat and orderly and a great modeler. It's also a major plus that his wife is super, and is in no hurry for us to make it all go away.
