The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Just got back from a day at the field. I flew my Goblin 570 for the first time. Man that's a nice machine! I chickened out at the last minute and had my buddy Mike that's been flying heli's since before I met him in 85 do the maiden. I'm kind of glad I did because I had the tail gain was set too...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Man that sucks. I'm really glad no one was hurt. Did you have a fail safe set on the throttle? About 2 years ago I had a throttle servo go nuts on start up and try to eat me. Thankfully I had it tied down well.:omg:

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I was planing on taking my Pilot Edge out today for some abuse, but my flying buddy Tony can't make it so I decided it's time to maiden my new Goblin 570 heli instead. Since the wind is supposed to be very light, I'm going to throw my Crack Pitts in the truck as well. It's been hanging on the...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I helped my flying partner in crime Tony, tune the mixes in his 35% Pilot 330SC a few weeks ago that I've been trying to get him to do since last year, and he says it's like a new plane. Now you see him making nice knife edge passes and slow rolls with a big smile.

Question: How many people here have WON a DA Engine??

I've never won one either, but they are a stand up company. Between their service, fine product and donating so much to events, everyone is a winner because of it. Some people may disagree, but the giant scale hobby would not be where it is without them.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Just got back from the field. I flew my T-Rex 550 with a new motor and speed controller. I'm very happy! Not bucket loads of power, but more than enough for my flying style. No more bogging when you nail the pitch!

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I think I'm going to sneak out of work a tad early and go test the new motor and speed control in my T-Rex 550 heli. I haven't informed my brother that I work with of that yet, but since its after 11am and he still has yet to get here he doesn't have room to complain.;)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

My new speed control for my Trex 550e showed up yesterday so last night there was more bullet and connector soldering along with more wiring and programing and gear mesh adjustment for the new Quantum motor. The Trex should be ready to go, the Goblin 570 on the other hand needs one more night...

Nothing worse than waiting and anticipating and seeing broken stuff. I think fragile on the box must mean throw in another language.

So just how does Aero-Tow Soaring work?

Just to prove you can have fun towing gliders on the cheap, here is a short video I took at the field a few weeks ago of a Walmart hand toss glider that has had a rudder and elevator added. It's being towed by a foamie Cub. Jeff, the owner of both airplanes had been letting other people fly the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I spent several hours tonight programming a helicopter flybarless unit and a Castle 130 amp speed controller. I had never used Castle Link or programed a governor before and it all went pretty well after I discovered the short extension I was using on the throttle lead to the ESC was bad. Of...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I spent the evening soldering on bullets and connectors, mounting two motors, and one new speed controller on two helicopters. I'm still waiting on another speed controller which hopefully will be here soon. I'd like to have both helicopters flying by the weekend with any luck.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Nice to know I'm not the only one. And it isn't just that it's a LiPo. It just seems wrong to have a battery on a fuel jug. Of course when your filling a 50oz tank that electric pump seems really right.;)
