The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I think it is time to taxi the big Yak into the wind, spool up the big 3dub 210 and pull back on the stick. I hope the wind wardens are kind tomorrow. Been kind of windy here for a couple of days. I can handle a little wind, but 28 mph gusts are just no fun.

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thanks pal...Going to find out how well I put her back together. Haven't been flying in like 2 or 3 weeks. Not sure I remember how. Tomorrow is the re-re-maiden.

What engine did you end up with? ZDZ 180? I have a a couple of unused props, switches, batteries and an ignition kill switch. How about some pics of that bad boy?

Very sufficient. 611 oz. for each elevator is perfect. But you knew that. Love my 7980's and 7990's.

One each elevator? Two 7990's on rudder?

    Official IMAC 2017 Knowns

And just when I was getting familiar with the 2016 sequence, they go and change it. LOL. Mark...or anyone really...., can some one explain to me what maneuver #10 on the basic is? Or is there someplace on the IMAC site that describes all this? I am sorry for sounding so impossibly ignorant. This...

What servos did you go with for your surfaces Tanner? Dang, been so busy with the big Yak lately that I haven't even stopped by this thread to see what everyone is up to. Ya'll are doing some pretty crazy cool stuff...as usual. Chris, you still liking that Giles foamy? I have been seriously...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Well, one last final test fit of everything. Wings are quite snug going into the pockets...Not too tight, just really-really nice fit. Everything lines up perfectly. Stabs of course didn't change. Nice fit against the fuse. Canopy fits really tightly. Overall, I am pleased with the re-build...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

I can not answer the first question. I have never had one of the ignitions fail while flying. However, from what I have discovered on the ground while testing, If one or the other ignitions is disconnected or disabling it...there is a definite loss of rpm. Once reconnected, the lost rpm is...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thank you....It is called "Snakeskin"from Taildragger RC. It's pretty cool that it comes in a variety of colors.

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Finally....!!! The big Yak is ready for a re-maiden. I finished up with recovering the right wing today. I cheated a little in duplicating the Green and Silver stripes on the top of the wing. I used normal household "wax" paper to lay over the top of the stripes, then using a pen I traced the...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Yeah..I know. But seriously, who hovers 5 ft. off the deck? I drag that rudder pal. LOL.... Thanks Tanner...really. Haven't ever done this on any of my planes. 50cc, 100cc, or even the big birds. Not to seem argumentative. But the only (4) dead sticks I have had in the past 4 years and over 2000...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Back from Vegas and I thought it was time I updated the Rebuild thread. I had planned to leave on Saturday for Vegas but things happened that I could not leave until yesterday morning. Quick trip down and back home by noon today. Now....it's time to get this big bird done. With the big 210 twin...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thanks for the heads up Tanner. But honestly, I have never used a brass tube in any of my tanks. I do understand the logic behind it. But notice the "klunks"? They are the Sullivan Super Klunks. They are quite heavy and have the larger "draw" hole in the center for feeding hungry big engines. I...

    Sport Restoring The Laser

Wow, you still haven't finished this? Isn't it time you spent some time with it? Hmmm? Lol. Hey, I have a couple of engines that would be the cats meow for that thing. Maybe tgat will start a fire under ya huh? Hee hee

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

It was pretty late last night when I finished up and I was beginning to get frustrated from not being able to find something that I laid down just 3.2569 seconds before, so I decided to update the reconstruction thread this morning. Not to mention the absolute disbelief of bumping my hobby knife...
