    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Funny you should mention this. My son and I have also discovered over the years with various incidents we have had and the number of planes we have repaired, those repaired and put back into service just "somehow" seemed to fly better. Maybe it is as you suggested. Not as nervous. Not really...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Kind of offsets the inside of the fuse. It is snakeskin with Tygon fed through it. TDRC has it in many colors. Thanks for all the compliments and devoted following guys. I am getting ultra excited to put her back on the air. I have a feeling she is going to fly more awesome than before.

I'm hoping the weight stays down as I anticipate it will. I'll "really" like it if it does. Lol.

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Just a real quick update everyone. I got the right side of the fuse on the Behemoth Yak striped and the wing pockets opened up and finished off. She's looking pretty good now. I started "temporarily" placing electronics and such in the fuse. I had mentioned before how much I like the redesigned...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

A little after midnight here in Idaho, and I am thinking it is time for beddy bye. But first, a few photos of todays progress. Not really much to say regarding progress. Other than the Yak is nearly a YAK, again.:banana-dance: I did have however a couple of last minute items to take care of...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

If you like, I can get some photos of my sons along with some measurements. With that, you could probably build your own right?

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thanks...but really have to be honest. No skills needed in assembling big keyed pieces together. I guess a little building experience does help. Lol.

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

I'd be happy to. Except my son has a brand new untouched SD Yak. Nothing between the SD and Pilot are the same. Cowls are same size but different bolt spacing.

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

The free replacement wood covers "ALL" Pilot RC ARF airframes. No matter the size. I try to be overly cautious and don't take near the risks with my airframes that some do. But it is a real comfort knowing that "IF" something happens, we Pilot ARF owners have an Ace in the whole. The outstanding...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thanks...it has been such a breeze to put back together. I really can't understand why anyone with a damaged Pilot airframe would ever trash them. With Tony's commitment to his company, the superior customer service and the no charge for replacement wood, (other than cost of shipping) it seems a...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thank you. I just finished the last minute details. Tri stock in the motor box sides, canister tunnel etc. Also got the belly vent completed and the final sanding to smooth all edges and clean up the fuse. She's now ready for covering. I do like to cover so this will be relaxing. The stringers...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

So here is Day 3's accomplishments. Pretty much straight forward. I got the right side outer fuse side in place and glued in. Once again, I was very pleased with how everything lined up. Very minimal fuss in getting it placed. The whole time I have been rebuilding the front section of this...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Thank you. I actually am enjoying this rebuild. I did look over your post on the other site. I plan to go back and read it more completely. I pretty much feel the same way about Pilot airframes. Pretty tough to beat the service, the way they fly and the overall satisfaction. It's ok David. We...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Day 2 of the rebuild of the big Yak. Where were we? Oh yes, adding more pieces to make a pile of wood into a flying airframe. LOL. I didn't get started as early this morning as I did yesterday. But still got quite a bit accomplished. I had to swing by Hobby Town for some 1/8" x 1/8" stringers. I...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

True to some extent. A big puzzle would be a correct analogy. However, not all pieces were easily identified as to their proper assembly location. Those darn little pieces that you have no idea where they go really drove me batty until I looked at the "smashed" fuse. But in all reality, not too...

    Rebuilding the Yak...again.

It is. I am very glad I chose to go the "all new replacement" wood route. Can you imagine trying to repair this pile of firewood without all new wood? Wow, I seriously doubt I would have repaired it now knowing what I do.
