I wish you told me a couple of months ago, I have two rolls of Ultracote one orange and one blue and been waiting for the third roll to show up anytime. So it will be covered in Ultracote. On the next plane we will have to talk.

I used hair spray with Monokote and I think it works better, I continue to use it. I think Ultrakote sticks better without the spray but I don't like it. I'll use Monokote or Hobby King film before i'll use Ultrakote. Hobby King film is nice and cheap, like $13 for 5 meters.

Ultracote is definitely a different beast. Reminds me more of fabric than Monokote.
The key is managing heat, as in one temperature for adhering to the airframe, a second temperature for shrinking and a third temperature for final shrink.
I have three irons calibrated to these temps so I don’t need to keep changing the temp on one iron.
Don’t ask me how many rolls I have ruined before finally getting the hang of it.

Buy a roll of white and give it a try. It's kind of interesting, when you buy it, that's what you get, film! No carboard tube, no shrink wrap, no instructions, if you order more than roll of the same color, you get a 10 or 15 meter roll. I assume it is processed when ordered off a large roll.
Goes on like Ultrakote, shines more like Monokote. Lower temperature than Monokote. I covered this wing in December 2014. I couldn't color march the green, tried several autobody supply houses and Sherwin-Williams paint store. Just about every hobby fluorsence green paint I could find. Tried yellow base and dusting green on top. Finally gave up.

And here's what it looks like today. there's one bay that is showing small wrinkles, not bad after 6 years stored in my basement that had a water problem until last year.
The autobody supply was able to match both white and blue colors. The plane is on the list to recover some day. Can't tell you how many time I sanded the cowl and canopy down!

Seen this video before a while back but always good just do a refresher course before you start covering.
I have covered with both Ultracote and monocote must say monocote has much nicer colours but I feel it is harder to work with I guess it just depends what you are accustom to. But when it comes to overlaying one over the other monocote is easier. But for now I will do with what I have.
Started laying out the covering the scheme onto the fuselage and seeing where I need to glue in strips of balsa for the covering to stop and start. Just another phase of getting the end results you want.

That looks really good. Now I need all the details. A. Who makes it. B. Who did you buy it from. C. And if it is a where-house who is it. Thanks when I get the info will order some that is long enough to do the fuselage in one piece. Thanks for that will give it a go.
Thanks need all the help I can get this hobby is starting to get expensive especially if you scratch or kit build.

Great went to order a roll of white was in stock only 17.95 great I thought did the usual check out and shipping and then I almost died shipping cost to me was 52.65 that is nuts, seen this before with hobby king. Thanks for trying to help.

Ok after a hole day of work on the fuselage, I believe the fuselage is almost ready for covering, about another two hours of fiddling. Then cleanup the workshop and blow off the fuselage and tack rag it to make sure all the dust is removed and then we can start.

For certain items or companies shipping costs are outrageous and therefore when ever I buy something I look at the shipping cost very closely. I have been able to find the exactly the same item in Europe or China for less and shipping is free or reasonable.
That is why I asked for the manufacturer because then I can see if it is available from someone else.
