Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Got some tinker time today. Hinged the ailerons and flaps with my robart hinges, added some spacers to get my control surface gaps right. My plans are off a bit due to shrinkage. But it looks good now. I will be adding LED lights, so decided to start cutting the wing tips to accommodate them.

Next I’ll install my landing lights, wiring, and possibly blind nuts for my wing struts.

Thanks Mike! Trying to keep this project rolling! I’m eager to cover it! So many little details!

speaking of details, I’ve been thinking... I want to design and make a PCB board for my light system that I designed years ago. Probably outdated, but it’ll be a fun project none the less. Would be neat to get it working and make a little DIY kit. My etched board is going in the otter, my rats nest is going in this plane... unless I can make a real PCB. How cool would that be.

Plenty of time for sleeping when I take the dirt nap. Life is too short to spend it in bed

Drilled and fitted the elevator joiners.

Using some old ribbon cable that was given to me, I started routing the light system.

ypu can tell this was an afterthought based on how everything is routed. Instead of going through the formers and ribs, I went around them. Not a big deal. Used superglue and kicker to adhere them.

for the tail light I used a piece of tubing that sits flush with the balsa tailpiece. There are many beaver tail cone styles out there and this way it actually looks scale to the one I’m modeling after which was a bonus.

Nice job on the elevator cross link, they are difficult to do nicely and neat looks good. Hard to get enough through from that setup.

Seen a guy on a FB group that had made a little access hole for the rudder linkage. I figured why not! So I made one just in case I need access to the connection.

Pretty much just made a little oval hole with some doublers just below the stab doubler, and used a couple little countersunk screws to attach them. I’m going to cover over it, so it’s there if I ever need it...probably will never use it.
