Is this gap ok also do I need more meat behind hinges.

I add another 3/8" sq. scrap to double the thickness in the hinge area. Just cheap insurance. Gap looks reasonable. Doesn't have to be perfect just close and even.

Use an exacto knife to remove additional material where the hinge knuckles are.

I'm using six robarts per ail is that ok

On the bigger stuff I usually put 2 on each end a few inches apart then go from there. I think I have 8 or 9 on my 50cc.

I totally messed up one ail doing hinges. I'm using the robart tool it's just not working out. I might need to cut of trailing edge and ail leading edge

I have done this a lot before with arfs. Never a problem.

FWIW, on the EF 78" Extra, I believe there are only 5 or 6 robart style hinges on each aileron. Haven't had a problem.
