3DHS 58" Edge 540

I can report that the 58 handles wind really well. Flew it in 15-20mph today and it's just cutting straight through it. I'm still kind of flying it like an old lady (I have a tendency to do that with new planes), but I really like this plane. Pop-tops are spectacular! I have to say it's doing pretty well on 4s, but the flight times are 5 minutes and not a second more. I'd love another minute!

You guys and your 58" Edges...sheesh...

I just got some vinyl for mine in the mail today...can't wait to get it put on!!!

Gotta wait for flying weather though...weather report for tomorrow:

temp: 16 degrees / wind chill: 2 degrees / winds: 13mph

sure glad I got my furnace replaced last week!

I'd sure love to see some video so I can remember how good my yellow plane looks in the air! ;)

My beloved 58" Only one i have left right now. Powered by motrolfly and CC ice lite 100 running 4s 4000. I did the LG mod what a difference when taxing on grass. Can you tell The fuse has been snapped in half? If you look where the wings meet the fuse theres black ultracote, I ran out of red. P.s The canopy isn't fully latched in the pic.

The LG mod is just making a shim for the LG to give it a forward angle. I made a about 1/8 inch shim. Ever notice the prop likes to eat dust when taxing or landing. This helps alot. The 55" had the same problem. Heres a quick pic. dont mind the electrical tape, I have a stress fracture. also running 4s, I can afford the weight. lol

Also I added a carbon fiber braces after i snapped the fuse. works great and more ridged.

Just curious - anyone convert this to gas? Was thinking that the newer 10cc motors might be interesting. I don't have the budget right now to get a bigger gasser so I am interested in what people think about the 58/59 edge/slick as a smaller gas plane.

Jarrod Clark (one of the 3DHS team member) did a "how to convert a 59 slick into a glow" flew quite well too, so it can be done. I would be interested in the outcome...

I was showing off today at the field in front of some buddies with cameras.... Trying to HAKE and scrape the elevator like I have a dozen times before and... Cartwheel..... Pulled the left elevator off breaking the joiner and busting up a bit of the motorbox plus a bit of canopy and cowl scrapes. All in all not as bad as I expected. I have a joiner from a crashed 57 Extra and I hope it will fit. It will live to fly another crazy day!!

I was really having fun with this thing :) Pictures to follow later...
