Oh it came loose alright and shot across the weeds at GCA never to be found again. The damage on the plane isn't too bad. Busted up motor box and a hole in the canopy. Fixable!

I finally got a chance to open up the cowl and have a look. Fixable or total loss? I'm leaning towards fixable. It's basically a clean break and I think I have all the pieces. I'll probably line the broken truss braces with CF-strips.

Not that bad. My 42 looked a lot worse. IDK how I fixed that thing with out a MB kit. LOL It flys again!!!

The number one benefit of not having a vent in the fuse: I was able to find every single little splinter!

The previous owner didn't have it and told me it wasn't needed. So I didn't bother to cut one.
