Ugh. Sorry to hear that bro.back to the Dalotel, I have had a major set back, to make it a short story , the landing gear on one of the wings, has a major problem , and has to be rebuilt

Ya I agree and this is the major rebuild I will have to do, , damAll I can tell you that I have 40 lbs plane and it can snap 3/8 grade 5 bolts like they are made out of butter. I would really be concerned with 5/8 aluminum rod.
I'm hoping that 3/8 is a typo. The shear strength of even a grade 2 3/8 bolt is several hundred of pounds. All I can tell you that I have 40 lbs plane and it can snap 3/8 grade 5 bolts like they are made out of butter. I would really be concerned with 5/8 aluminum rod.

No doubt, that must have been some fine Chinese steel to snap that easy.Sorry to say it is not, I did shear off both wheel axle bolts and they were 3/8 diameter. I agreed with you did the math and it should never fail should have snapped the fuselage in half before the bolts fail but it bib not. Both axles failed and did no damage to the plane at all. The bolts must have been made out of banana steel.

Those must be some giant wheels to take a 3/8" bolt for an axle. A 5" White Rose only uses a 1/4" axle.
