I just got back from the field with my Extra. I had a great time today! I'm absolutely loving the Extra.

Can't wait until next weekend when i'll have the pipe all set up.

I'm thinking i need another 78'' Extra on E power to fly up the hill from my house. Maybe i'll get the 70'' EXP instead. I can't get enough Extreme Flight :flyer:

The pic is from yesterday(which was also awesome)

Get the 70" Extra-EXP!!!!
roger has one down in AUS and LOVES it :)

I have owned both and the 78 is a better machine. The 70" just does not have enough pitch authority for me. I ordered a second set of stabs and I get MAX possible deflection. I have the 70 on a 6S setup with the A60-6XS and is very light and flies very very nice. Just not aggressive enough for my tastes. When I fly it, I tend to fly in a more relaxed and smooth fashion and work on roll maneuvers which is excels at. Also hovers very easily and the SFGs are a must.

If you E-power the 78 go with a 10s or 12s setup. I tried 8s 5000 and it was not enough for my tastes. Looking back, if I had used better quality batteries and actually gotten good advice from the vendor on what prop to use I might have liked it more. This is the one moment where I hated being the first with a A60-5S.

When the 78 MXS finally comes out I will have the same quandry. GT33 on a pipe or 12S 3300-3700 so I can use the 60" class batteries.

Hmmmmm and i thought that the 70'' Extra would have MORE pitch authority because it's an EXP. I feel the pitch is very nice on the 78''. Not excessive but not lacking. Maybe i'll stick with my 78'' for now.

What setup would you run with 12s 3300s? I have a few 6s 3300s and would love to double them up for a 78'' MXS.

Maidened mine today, only got one flight on it though, tried some knock off servo arms, big mistake. Should have gone with the SWB or Secraft double lock arms, but I tried some others. The pinch bolt on 3 arms broke on the first flight. The left aileron then slipped on the spline and I fought finding trim on the whole flight. Landed and realized the whole arm was slipping on the spline. The other two snapped pinch bolts were on the elevator. So I probably got fairly lucky that the plane survived the flight.
Ordered some new arms from aztech aeromodels right after getting home. Looking forward to getting more flights on it next weekend.

So far I have a DLE-30 on mine, waiting for the DA35 to come out and will upgrade then.

whoa! The last time I had a servo and spline "incident" I piled in my 60" EF Edge. Glad your day wasn't like that!

BTW, I'll be in LR in 2 weeks. Maybe I can meet up w/u for a few hours to fly?-

Man i'm glad you got the plane back on the ground safely! That would suck so bad to loose a plane like this one to something like a servo arm, especially on the maiden.

Can't wait to hear what you think of it once you get to really wring the thing out! It's an AWESOME plane so i'm sure you'll love it!

That is why you never skimp on something like a Servo arm. Too much money involved for something like that to fail on you. I bought a used 88 Edge like is like brand new and I am loving the plane! I am really shocked that there are not too many threads on that plane. Do people not care for that plane that much?? I think I will get a 91 EF extra next! or maybe I ill just get the 100CC EF:D

I'd still LOVE to get one some day. I think it'd be an awesome plane to have in the hangar.
