78'' Extra

I used a cf rod with titanium threaded ends on the throttle. Those ball links are Dubros. Central Hobbies. View attachment 11433View attachment 11434
Cut the cf to length and epoxy the titanium end then attach the ball link. Works nice and reduces a little vibration.
Thanks!
Joe,
any pics of that 40cc motor mated to the Extra? Would love to see some shots of it.
Got an email back from DA a few days ago when I inquired about the DA-35 availability, they said parts are on the way and it should be soon. So who knows when that motor will come out.
I recently acquired a 50cc Yak 54 at a terrific price and am now trying to decide whether to grab another 78" Extra when they come back in stock, or to just fly the Yak until the 78" MXS comes out...

No pics yet, ill take some today or tomorrow. I still have to install the throttle servo, new tank, and cowl.

I can't wait start it up!

How's the balance looking? With the 35 DLE I'm having to keep my batt up by the wing tube.
That's a nice full looking cowl. What prop are you going to spin? I think n Matt is all over this rig too. You gonna put some pants on this pretty rehab?

Haha I have a set of pants that I'll be putting on :)

I havent checked balance yet but I'll probably need to move my packs back. I think I'm going to start with a vess 20b. I also have a falcon 20x8 and xoar 21x8 to try.

I ran all three of those props. The Vess is a decent break in prop. The 21x8 is the ticket. You might try a 20x10 for speed/IMAC type flying.

The 21x8 puts it right in the recommended RPM range. I am going to pick up a carbon 21x8 when I transplant the motor.

The twin produces power better on the low end. The pipe setup ultimately is more power, just it gets it from tons of RPM at the top end.

I like how nicely that thing fits inside the cowl. Looks like a great choice on this plane. Will be eagerly awaiting some flight reports!
