That's how it works in Illinois. Also, your insurance company should still sell you liability coverage.

Yeah my insurance told me I didn’t need to do anything different with them unless I decide to not buy it back then I just have to call to have it removed from my insurance. With what I found two bumpers for and what they are gonna give me I will end up pocketing close to a grand. Might try to convince the wife to let me sand it all down and paint it myself or throw a $400 Macco paint job at it just to make it all one color.

Ok if I may ask. You had a small hole in the stab tip. Now did you do it cut the covering back to some balsa wood, and glued it down or did you just put a patch over the hole and used some coverite glue and start filling and sanding.
I cut the hole back to about an 1/8" from the wood edge, then ironed a patch on, then put some CA around the edges and smoothed the edge out with some Dolphin Glaze.

Does the CA not make a very hard edge that is difficult to sand. It’s like when I sand balsa with ca joint sand the all around it but not the ca.

There is not enough build to make it an issue, and I only sanded it enough for the Dolphin Glaze to adhere. Your right about how it works on balsa, that's why I used Sigment on the seams of the planks on Miss Moana, it sands much better.

Last night I pulled the Fortitude fuel tank out of Miss Moana to re attach the fill/drain line in the tank. It was fine until the first time I filled it with my new electric pump. When I took it apart, the vent line fell off too. On a Fortitude tank you CA the vent and fill/drain tube into the plastic stopper. I'm pretty sure when I assembled that one my bottle of Mercury CA had gone south. That bottle was weird, it never got hard in the bottle, it just stopped drying at all.

Today I had to work, but I think I'm finally finished with a long term restoration project. The owner still hasn't brought the trim rings and center caps for the Rally Wheels, but he says he's bringing them when he comes to get it next week.

Holy crap...what a beautiful beast. Just nothing better than an old Chevy that looks so sexy.

A few years back, (actually like five or maybe even six) I sold my Hangar 9 Mustangs. The original 150 Marie and the 60 size Blue nose. Both flew really well, but I was really interested in going Giant Scale Aerobatic. Yesterday, I bought them back in the "EXACT" condition unflown since the last time I flew them. I have been going through them and realized that they really needed updated. So, I ordered some servos, dug out some equipment and started formulating a plan to get them both back in the air. I figured that I may need to refamiliarize myself with the differences in flying a "stang" vs. the 3d planes I have been so involved with the last few years. I can stand losing one of those two warbirds. But losing a Big DS 112" would kill me. My friend Kevin just finished his DS Mustang and attempted to maiden it a couple of weeks ago. Alas, she did not make one circuit before rolling out of control and smashing....literally into the ground. Busted up the "dub" 150 twin really badly. Nothing left...of the big DS Mustang except the memories of a long full year of building. What a shame.... I don't want this to be my story.

Wow that hit the ground hard. There is no discussion on weather it can be rebuilt that baby is gone. Man your friend must be just blown away cannot belive how he must feel, not one flight out that bird after all that work, time and money. Does anyone have any idea what happened.

That is one beautiful looking car and even better it is manual like that. One thing I have never seen is the special pad on the jack to prevent any kind of marking surely that is not common.

Yes, it is pretty much done! There is no retrieving that one. Ask for what happened, it went straight up the minute he left the ground and he was holding quite a bit of down elevator just to keep it flying. He believes that it was way tell heavy. I find that a little hard to believe especially since he had the three W 150 twin up front. That is no Feather by any stretch of the imagination. My belief is that it either had up thrust on the engine or the incidents on the stabs were not correct. However unfortunately we will never know. I just don't want this to happen to mine. So we need nose wait? Kolm it will be.
