    JR 921 receivers

frame rate is not dependent on the radio protocol. To support the faster frame rates you have to have servos capable of it, as well as an rx capable of it. The default is 22ms. Frame rate was all the rage a few years back, and from what I can remember really only the heli guys were able to...

Scale Experimental Aircraft Models 80" Velocity XL

Looks great! The one I saw folded the nose gear on the takeoff roll, we have a grass field, though it is pretty smooth. Make sure that bulkhead is good and strong! By the way, I saw the other one that overheated with a Rimfire 120 up for sale at the local hobby shop last week when I was in...

    Desert Aircraft Owners

I have an EME70 twin that is spitting out tons of black stuff. I was running it at 35:1 on Redline per the manual, but I'm going to drop to 40:1. If it were me I would just check the plug, adjust the mixture if needed to get it with that nice proper plug color, and then just keep flying it!

    Desert Aircraft Owners

First new motor? Black stuff and splatters are quite normal for a new motor. Until the motor is good and broken in expect that to continue, though it will get less and less. First 2-4 gallons are the worst. I've also seen it said many times that gas is not like glow. Just because a motor is...

    Favorite connectors

xt60 on smaller stuff and EC5 on larger stuff for me. I find the EC3's to be too hard to plug/unplug sometimes.

    BRAND NEW PAU PLANES! EXCLUSIVE!

So I'm unclear exactly what's on this container... are the new 35-40cc Edges on it as well as the bigger stuff? And for that matter the PAU site shows a very very similar looking Edge, though it looks to be a smaller 30cc one. Is the one coming all new and bigger?

    Tunnel Huck Part 4

Have you seen some of their other vids? Amazing stuff. This one is one of my favorites, watch the landing at the 4 minute mark: And of course the bridge crossing one...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

A DX6 is not enough channels for this plane if going gas... you have 1 throttle servo, 2 elevator servos so 2 channels there, 2 aileron servos, so 2 more there, a rudder servo, and then a channel for your engine kill. Assuming you are using some type of remote engine kill that is. Theoretically...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I doubt that our radio setups would be very helpful to you, most of us setup for a full on 3d plane with extreme throws, etc. that said, what kind of radio do you have?

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

Sure like that red on the new Extra Blake. Will be interested to see how you like the EME on it. I'm liking mine more and more. Though it seems to run hotter than my singles did, make sure you baffle the cowl on it.

CONTEST TIME!! - Custom Sanding Blocks!!

I would use them to build lots of planes for other club members and help to grow the hobby. I enjoy building, and have helped quite a number of new pilots at our field by putting together planes for them, and also training them to fly. And so I'm always in need of building supplies to keep...

Scale Experimental Aircraft Models 80" Velocity XL

Funny, I believe the one I saw was a Rimfire also. Wasn't baffled, just had the stock inlets. And it wasn't enough at all. I would definitely shoot for baffling, and keep a close eye on the temps. His was flown in the summer here, which is hard on electrics anyways as we get temps in the upper...

Scale Experimental Aircraft Models 80" Velocity XL

Not sure if it's exactly the same kit or not, but a couple of local guys had those, one went glow, and the other electric. The electric flew once, and the owner didn't have proper ESC cooling, it got hot and began having reduced power 3-4 minutes into the flight. He got it around and landed it...

    Extreme Flight Owners Thread

This has come up so many damn times in this thread that I should probably just save this text somewhere to make it easier to copy/paste it in :) The EF 7x" planes aren't really comparable to the 3dhs ones. 3dhs 7x" planes are smaller and lighter, ranging in the 9-10.5 lb range. The EF ones are...

    EME70 Twin

What prop are you running, and do you know how many rpm's you were getting? I'm turning a Falcon 24x9 on mine at about 6750 rpm. It was only 6500 on the first few runs. Have about a gallon through it now, and it's starting and running better. Mine was lean right out of the box, which made it...

    XG11 SD Card

I have no experience in either area... yet. Mine has been working fine also, so I haven't tackled upgrading it. Haven't even inserted a card into mine yet... On other radios (spektrum dx series) I haven't had to format the cards though, just stick it in and the radio read it just fine.

What is an expected motor temperature and too hot temperature?

Good stuff Orthobird and Bunky. As for the lean condition, I richened both needles a tiny bit after noting the plug colors. I had not attempted a restart after the dead stick as I suspected she was running lean. It had been difficult to get started, requiring about 4-5 cycles of choke until pop...

    EME70 Twin

Nope, stock mufflers allow access. I can get to mine from the front of the plane, just in front of the muffler.
