    Servo bench testing

The issue with going to 6V is that the servo is geared to 7.4V. That would be like running 6V servos at 5V. HV servo were the new thing when I started doing 3D setups, so I have very few 6V servos. 90% of those are minis and below. The cool thing with HV is that they can gear the servo to...

    Servo bench testing

I would use my gopro first. I have a hero 3 white edition which only does 720p/60. The hero 3 black, and hero 3+ silver and black do 720p/120. Beyond that you are probably going to have to get a more specific camera. My nice camcorder does 60 fps, but that is for interlacing. Anyways that...

    Servo bench testing

Tell me how to do it and I can accomodate. I am guessing I will have to use a high speed camera as there is no way I can do a stop watch that quickly. The quickest camera is have is only 60 fps I think which would not be real accurate. I think the measure is per 60 degrees of travel, and each...

    Servo bench testing

Just did some further testing with the improved rig. Brand new Savox 2231 was 500 oz-in Brand new Futaba BLS-172 was 450 oz-in Brand new Turnigy 3509 was 470 oz-in several season old Hitec 7954SH was 370 oz-in RedwingRC gave me a few servos to test back at Toledo and I did not believe the...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I picked up a few sets of H9 turnbuckles for me and Patrick. He says 4" should work with maybe a little shaving off one end. Since the LHS is 1.5 gallons of gas and a 50+ mile round trip I just got a set of 3.5" while I was there. We are both moving the elevator to the ailerons as well. We are...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I tached Daren's yesterday and it was 8860 on a falcon 20x7. That is ground RPM. It also matches what is on the RCxcel plug in tach and this is getting the RPM off the ignition module so that is a real number.

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I tached Daren's setup today which is a Falcon 20x7 (I sold to him) at 8860 peak. I used my Fromeco tach and we looked at it for 20-30 seconds so it was not just a fluke. They are using a DLE-35RA with a 8" header length. Good question on the durability, but I know these setups have been in...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I don't believe this number, but my friends who run a DLE-35RA on a ES 30G pipe claim they are getting 9100 RPM on a Mej 20x7. I want to verify that with my own tachometer. dth7 runs the same combo on his 78 and claims low 8000s which is more in line with reality with what kind of HP you...

    Parkzone Su-29mm

Patrick rigged up a cable. We will play with it at some point. I have a few other things in the fire with trying IMAC, DA-35 finally mounted, and the new 83 MXS to build.

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I did some measurements of the E version. 980 grams on the fuse no canopy. 1176 with it. 155 grams on the hardware with baggies. I did the cowl, wings, and stabs and I am pretty close to Ryan, so just go with his extensive measures. Cowl to back of rudder is 74.5". Aeroplayin is figuring...

Building of the 30cc Slick 540 from Redwing RC!!!

Thanks. That is so telling. Especially on the rudder and elevator. The wings are bigger on the redwing because they are recessed. Very cool.

    94" mxs-exp

I would expect the cost to be the same as the 91 extra. $125 shipping to a commercial address is what what we get up here for anything freight. The 91 builds out at 21 pounds, so they are not light. A 60 on a pipe is minimum for our tastes. The DA-70 is cheaper by a few bucks. If you want...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

On my 78, they were so flimsy, that I just deleted them and got some bigger wheels. We mostly fly on grass, so wheel pants all get beat up. Patrick called the shipping company and they should be delivered today.

    3DHS 70" Velox

I know the jtec large pitts style take away some RPMs in exchange for some sound suppression. They are still no canister. The best power you are going to get without a pipe is a side dump. I went through 4 mufflers on my OS GT60 last season, and the best power was this...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

Look at the size of that elevator. I hope that is enough for this pitch authority junky. I think I finally got a servo solution figured out. I am getting some 2231s to replace my 110 yak elevator servos, and that coupled with the sale of my Bigfoot will free up 4 HS7954s. My spare giant...

    15cc EF 60" Edge 540T-EXP Gasser

It is like tuning a glow motor. You turn the high needle a little rich of peak. After the initial tune it seemed to hold until I changed props. It is a typical OS and you need to run it at a mid throttle for 20-30 seconds to warm it up. No messing with the low. It has another name in the...

    Parkzone Su-29mm

Mine is very twitchy on the gains. Especially with more power. That chord is back offered for two more months as far as I can tell. Mine will sit in the shed for awhile.

    15cc EF 60" Edge 540T-EXP Gasser

The 14x7 gave the best of both worlds. The edge is not the most precise platform so I think the Extra might be a better airplane in the power envelope of this engine. It flew pretty good on all the props and the 16x6 was probably the best for low and slow. This plane will get a lot more use...

    32" MXS-C! Backyard insanity!

My male sheltie got mine pretty bad and stripped the rudder servo. Parts are already enroute. That direct linkage has at least 1 downside.
