Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

When I bought this kit last October, researched the net about the kit. I found no comments about problems building the wing, is it possible the kit was missing a jig or the plans are distorted?

So here is the finished version, a lot messing around and redoing things, I'm stopping here. Need to make the clamp for the spring at the tail post and the spring brackets that mount on the rudder. Oh and heat treat the springs.

Thanks. From what I can tell, the 3200 was used on later models of the Champ, mid 1950's maybe. There was also a Maule brand used. Don't understand the rime or reason for selecting one over the other. Actually started making a 3200 look-a-like but changed after reviewing the service manual.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Been working off and on over the past few days on the tail wheel. Did a lot of looking at photos and have discovered that there are as many versions of tail wheels as nose bowls. Decided on the Scott 3000 version shown below which matches the service manual drawing. Found a drawing of the...

What is your reasoning for splitting the ailerons?

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

The reason I ask was that there is not much surface area when gluing the flat gusset onto the round dowel. I thought the gussets were there pieces not one, is this something the kit cutter did? Or did miss read the drawing? Tried Titebond III once and didn't like but for some reason I believe...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Ordered 3/32" 1095 spring steel from McMaster Carr, came in 2 days, great shipping. The spring steel arrives in the annealed state so that you can form it to shape and drill. Once that is complete, the steel gets heated and quenched to harden, then tempered to provide toughness. I was able...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I heard back from Aircraft Spruce yesterday, looks like my spruce order is 3 weeks out. The message said that spruce orders have a 5 week lead time. With the lag I just might be splitting the cowl into 3 pieces. Still time to think about it. Got the Roto 85-FS drawing blown up today to make...

Yes, there are many variations out there. Most of the nose bowls seem to be from Univar https://www.univair.com/aeronca/parts/u4-576-aeronca-nose-cowl/. I'm still study the photos and thinking of using the openings below. This stuff can drive you nuts!

Yes it looks like it will fit, the cowl is wide enough, may need to poke a hole in the firewall for the velocity stack. I was hoping the 170 would fit, but no way.
