I was thinking about cutting in a rudder servo on the bottom fuselage just in front of the tail spring mount. I have this setup on the Ultra Stick and really like it. The wire spring setup similar to what you've considered has stood up to tremendous thrashing on the beach. With my rudders out on the ends of the horizontal stab I went with some mini servos rather than elaborate linkages. I'd run push/pull to the rudder on one side of the servo arm and one to the tailwheel on the timber. What characteristic are you feeling that you don't like? I haven't got to 5-3/8" yet. Currently 5" Loaded - 5-1/8" empty. Really need to make a baggage compartment in the empennage for this plane to put the batteries in. Too bad there isn't a push-pull rudder servo option either.
