The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Last night I did a little repair work to my Hangar 9 Extra 300x. The front of the canopy was falling apart. What looks to be 1/4" ply is actually 2 pieces of 1/8" that are barely glued together. One of the tabs that hold the front down had delaminated and a chunk broke off. All the glue joints...

It's been pretty awful around here lately that's for sure. I usually go even on the hot days, but when the forecast says 90's by mid morning I'm out. The wind is pretty bad today here too.

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

It can make it really dark and ruin any metallic. The moral of the story is don't sand your base before clearing it. If you have a spot you have to sand, you need to spray more base over it before clearing.

Sanding basecoat before clear can radically change the color.

You guys are all wrong, what you do is buy a new popular brand 120cc twin (not DA or 3W) mount it in your airplane with no baffling, don't tune on it, fly it at full throttle and dead stick it every flight until it breaks the crank. Then get another one and on the first flight run it lean as...

I don't think the old radio was interfering with the 2.4, I think they were both getting hit from a separate source. Or so it seemed.

It was a strange one that's for sure, two guys having problems at the same time with one on 72mhz and one on 2.4, Both are good pilots and not the kind of guys that crash every weekend and blame the radio.

Big Torque Servos - ProModeler PDRS420BLHV 420oz Brushless servo!

I would have a set of these servos in my Hangar 9 Extra 300X, but he was out at the time, and I was in a hurry. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I put a few flights on my 35% Extra 300X today. It was a good day for flying, even though it was humid as balls in the morning. I was pretty well done and about to pack up around noon when we started having some weird issues at the field. One guy crashed a small fast pylon racing foamie when he...

A little extra reinforcement on the gear is not a bad idea. If I have any complaints about a Freewing jet it's that they sometimes scrimp a little on the glue for the retract mounts.

One of two green schemes they had. Handsome airplane!

Yeah Freewing does a nice job on the retracts and lights. Here's a shot I like of me landing my buddies Freewing Stinger 90 that shows the gear and lights well.
