The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

My shop truck is a stick that I've been driving for 23 years. I finally after 120000 all city stop and start miles had to put a clutch in it a year or so ago. With my bad knee the clutch sucks now and then. Thankfully hydraulic clutches are easy to push. Driving some of the old muscle cars...

Planes of all sizes are welcome at our club, thankfully. Most of us like to keep the bigger airplanes on the north south grass runway for noise reasons. The fabric runway runs east west so the smaller guys stay over there for the most part. During our Warbird and Classic event and during the Big...

It's not exactly a "Big Bird" so I think they may frown on that at the Big Bird fly in. Besides it needs the fabric runway that runs east west, and that will be closed during the big bird. I also have to admit I have an issue with having to pay to fly at my own field.

EDF's are fun that's for sure. I haven't flown my Mig 21 since January and need to change that very soon!

Rob, I put a piece of shrink tube over the 90 degree end on my choke rods. It also protects the cowl a bit.

That is certainly possible, though I'm not the kind of guy that tightens things till they squeak.:) Since the center bolt in that spinner was aluminum I was always extra careful about that. Another likely scenario is that I cracked the backplate by handling it by the spinner. When I need to...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Last night I pulled the Hangar 9 Extra apart to see what's damaged. I discovered something kind of interesting. The aluminum spinner backplate is broken, and not from the trip into the beans. It's cracked at the outside edge of the engine prop hub and was pushed back far enough to rub a big...

1000kv at fully charged 3S 12.6 volts is 12600 RPM. At 4.5" of pitch that's about 54 miles an hour. Now @ 2500KV, now your talk'n.:on_the_go: Kelly, the cholesterol from all those cheeseburgers is cutting off the blood flow to you noggin. ;) Ask me how I know this....... but since I paint and...

That's what I've been running on Terry's recommendation. I've been pretty happy with it so I guess I'll get another one to replace the one my spinner destroyed yesterday.

Removing the landing gear is the part of the fix I dread the most. The cuffs are glued to the fuse with clear adhesive silicone and that stuffs a pain to get off.

Yeah I've seen what happens when half a prop comes off and it's REALLY ugly.

Well it was a nice day at the field today, but unfortunately it ended up with my 105" Extra upside down in a bean field. On my second flight, the carbon fiber spinner cone decided to part company with the airplane and go through the prop and hit the cowl. I killed it right away since I wasn't...

I was sitting in my parents kitchen one day and the power started going on and off. The power came back on for the last time and so did the microwave.:oblong: I pushed the stop button several times with no results, I even tried opening the door and the magnatron kept humming away. I had to pull...

The forecast for tomorrow looks great, for July. Today we had the coolest least humid day since April, it was 84 and there was no heat index! Tomorrow while not as nice, should be pretty good. The high is supposed to be 88 with the wind around 6. A little more humidity than today, but WAY better...
