    Throttle servo?

I have looked at that servo for throttle in the past. The low price and HV is a very nice feature but I always worried about nylon gears in a shaky twin like the DA170. So that is why I went with the 8911. If I had a quad or a smoother twin I would have been more comfortable with a nylon geared...

    Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi

I don't remember if I showed these pics or not but after using both onboard engine temp monitoring and telemetry I found my DA170 running rather hot. Last year I seen a peak of around 340F. After playing around with several different baffling ideas I found this one to work the best. Earlier this...

    Ignition Switches

I have been using these for a few years now. They work great. I like how you can set them up to not power off if you hit the switch once. A kind of failsafe if you hit the wrong switch.

    Voltage drop under load

I think you will love that XG11. Very happy with mine. When you monitor the receiver voltage using a power expander like the smart fly you will not get a true reading of what the battery voltage is though. The recievers are fed a regulated 5.0V and should remain pretty constant unless the pack...

    Throttle servo?

Between the specs and your experience it looks like you get a lot of value at a reasonable cost. I do agree when it comes to a large airplane it does get rather pricey installing 9 or more $200.00 servo's.

    Throttle servo?

I am curious and not trying to start conflict but for $90 why did you not go with a more main stream servo?

    Throttle servo?

I had the same servo fail on my throttle a long time ago also. I ended up looking on line for similar failures and found several with those servo's. Since then I stay with very good servo's for throttle.

JR Loyalty Trade In Program for DSM2/DSMX Radios to new DMSS Systems

They are trading in 2.4 systems only. Not older 72 and past units. I had no problems selling off my old DSM2 and DMSX recievers. The power safe recievers go like hotcakes.

2015 North Central Judging and Flying School

The wife and I are planning on going in 2015. haven't been to one in a year or two so it is time to brush up on my judging skills (or lack there of).

    Throttle servo?

I have been a fan of using a very good servo on throttle. On my Sukhoi I use a JR8911 for throttle. Not really for the torque or speed but mostly because it is HV and when you get into HV there is little difference in price on servo's to make that much difference. Plus for the minimal extra cost...

    US Engines 35cc

If it was my engine I would pull the carb and reed block (if equip) and inspect the crank and rod for any rust. Moisture in the crank case would be my biggest worry.

3D to iBEc or not to iBEc that is my question

Least he had enough battery to go that long. That has always been my worry. I know of a few people that had a throttle servo crap out and they had to fly around for a long time until the fuel ran out. I was fortunate on my throttle servo failure that it happened on the ground. It has been a...

Hanger 9 Extra 300 CG location

If your is like mine with a single rudder servo on the tail, DA120 (light) and RE2 tuned pipes it will be hard to get the CG at the most forward point. I have a heavy truturn spinner also with 2300 A123 batteries in the motor box. Im thinking of going to canisters and all HV this winter. Love...

Hanger 9 Extra 300 CG location

Mine is balanced more towards the 4 3/4 range. I don't remember exactly but I set it up and it was pretty close to where I like it. But it is within the recommended CG range though.

What are you going to build in 2015?

We are looking forward to it. This will be our 3rd new home build. This one will have a side load 3 car garage and a front load motorhome garage. It was hard finding a nice subdivision in our price range to allow this. But we found a great lot. No building to the west of us because of the...

What are you going to build in 2015?

The wife and I were planning on building this in 2015. It may appear to be a 2016 build now. It will be a kit and not an ARL (almost read to live). LOL

    Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi

Thanks for the comments guys. So far the fin does not look to bad in the garage. Will see once it is outside in the summer sun. I am hopeful that the polyurethane tip from fixedwing keeps the joints clean as I am hoping. If anyone has suggestions on redoing the strips I am all ears. In the pics...

    Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi

I received my Ultracote from Horizon Hobby in the 10meter rolls. Defiantly worth it if you do not want any seams. The only bad thing is I really did not need a whole lot of it. But I have some extra now. Since the entire fuse was completely removed of all covering it would have been a great time...

    Radio lockout

Did you mean DMS2? Those you really needed to hold a foot away or so from the receiver to bind up. I've never really had an issue with binding on any system other than initial setup in the garage. But just hold the transmitter a away a little and no issues.
