Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Well not exactly a twin. But definately an addition to the Behemoth family. This 330 is one big plane. I'm looking forward to this one with great anticipation. My 260 just flew so well. It was so predictable I could always count on its every move. Been told the 330 is just as comfortable in...

General question on what is the best way to sell a pair of Large DA Engines?

Rick, that does indeed appear to be a DA150. As for age or use, that would be too difficult to guess. It does look as though it could have been used for some very unique application as the mufflers are not like anything we would use in the RC Hobby. Also not a norm, is the 3w air inlet snorkel...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

So yeah, not even did I sleep in a wink this morning. Too excited to start seeing my devious plot unfold. Morning bathroom break, walk the little guy and dig into that covering roll. Oh my "STARS". Lots of them. LOL.... But getting an idea of placement with a slight deviation that hopefully will...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Although a thinner firewall would probably be ok, thing is the original was basically the same thickness. Within 1/16" Or less. I figure replacing a component less than the size of the original would probably not be the best idea.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yippie!!! New wheel pants for the big Sukhoi. Seems I am replacing these guys once a year. A slight scratch here, a bit of crack there... never ends. But thankfully Horizon Hobby is staying on top of the ball with replacement parts for the 3.1 Hangar 9 Sukhoi. 33 bucks is a meager pittance to...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

A little trim/covering progress on the 330 tonight. I chose to start with something really simple for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to get back into the covering mood without a fully intensified devotion this evening. That will happen tomorrow but needed to start somewhere. Second reason...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Thanks to my awesome son @Shayne Epley and all his really cool shop toys, I now have a brand new double laminated firewall for the 330. Two 3/16" and one 1/8" backer for a total overall (+) 1/2" thick firewall. Pretty sure this will be more than strong enough to support that beast 157cs yankin'...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

Can you believe it? Two weekends in a row. I am liking not working on nice warm Saturdays. I am putting them to good use. My son and I decided to make it a 100cc kind of day. Pilot RC 100cc day that is. Weather was so nice we almost needed to pinch ourselves to make sure it was real, not just...

Sport Bud Nosen (!!!) 1/4 Scale Citabria Build! Woo hoo!

So I didn't realize you were intensely building along on this. Wow. Mostly because I had been absent for so long due to computer issues. I will be following along now Bart. Oh by the way, as for A and A verses Bud Nosen.... Hmm, odd cuz the big Stang I started years ago and never finished was...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

As per Tony, the down thrust will be "0" degrees and the right thrust will be 1.5-2.0. (I am probably going to stick pretty darn tight on the 1.5 degrees right thrust) The original owner of this airframe had it set up for literally IMAC only flying. The first dead give away was the 1/8" wafer at...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

No kidding right? I seriously looked at Dell. Wow how the tide has changed. They used to be bottom feeder pc's. Now it seems, they are the cream on top of the milk. Anyway, I wanted something with good computing power and great graphics and a powerfull enough system to run my flight sym. So, 2TB...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

As promised... a little bit of an update. The covering has arrived. And I am so jacked and ready to start covering this beast. But first, I need to take care of that totally illegitimately installed firewall. I just will not do the 3.5 degrees right thrust and 2 degrees down thrust. I cut the...

And now the moment I have been waiting for. All the pre-cut covering stripes for the 330. OH I am so excited! I am going to "TRY" to get some covering started this weekend. Of course the weather is awesome right now. I may have to do some flying this weekend too. LOL
